City at Peace Selected for Philanthropy Catalogue
The Catalogue for Philanthropy for Greater Washington (http://www.catalogueforphilanthropy.org/dc) has named City At Peace-DC as a featured charity in the 2005 Catalogue for Philanthropy. The Catalogue is in its third year in the Washington, DC region. It is supported by local foundations, including Harman, Meyer, Cafritz, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Marriott, and Fowler). The Catalogue is a community services operation that profiles environmental, cultural, educational, human services, and international organizations. Most notably, 100 percent of every donation is delivered to the designated charity.
City at Peace (http://www.cityatpeacedc.org) was selected from 250 candidates. The program combines the performing arts, violence prevention, cross-cultural understanding, and conflict resolution training that are led by youth with guidance from a professional artistic director, musical director, and a host of adult volunteers. At the Institute’s national conference – Persistently Safe Schools 2005 – Paul Griffin, Founder and President of City at Peace-National, received the Hamilton Fish Institute Award for Service for extraordinary service to children, youth, and communities.
